How to use it

A no-spend challenge means buying only the essentials you list in advance, like rent, bills, groceries and gas, for a set period, usually 30 days. The top of this sheet has two lists: what is allowed and what is not. Below them are 30 day boxes to mark each day you stick to your rules, plus a line to note what you saved.

You decide what counts as essential, and writing it down before day 1 makes the rules easier to follow. If a day goes off plan, mark it and keep going; the chart shows the whole month, not just one day. Some people pair it with an expense tracker to see where the money that was not spent went.

Printing tips

Goes well with: printable expense tracker, 100 envelope challenge.

FAQ

What counts as essential?

You decide. Common examples are housing, utilities, groceries, medicine and transportation. Write your list at the top of the sheet.

What if I slip?

Mark that day and carry on. The goal of the chart is to see the month as a whole.

When is a good time to start?

Any time. Many people start at the beginning of a month so the 30 boxes line up with the calendar.

Is it free?

Yes. Free for personal use, with no sign-up or email.
